Deep-fried cheese balls with Sweet Chili Chipotle sauce

Ingredients

For about 4 people

  • 300 g grated cheese (e.g. a mix of cheddar and mozzarella for a creamy interior)
  • 100 g cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Oliehoorn Sweet Chili Chipotle Sauce

Here's how to make it

  1. Mix the grated cheese, cream cheese, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Add the egg and flour and mix well until firm.
  3. Take small amounts of the cheese mixture (about a tablespoon per ball) and roll them into nice balls.
  4. Then roll the balls through the breadcrumbs so that they get a crispy crust.
  5. Heat the oil in a pan to about 170-180°C.
  6. Deep-fry the cheese balls in portions, about 2-3 minutes per portion, until golden brown and crispy. Make sure the balls do not stick together while deep-frying.
  7. Drain the balls on kitchen paper.
  8. Serve the fried cheese balls warm, along with the spicy Sweet Chili Chipotle sauce.
