Squid rings with French fries sauce

Ingredients

For about 4 people

  •  500 g fresh squid, cleaned and cut into rings
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lime
  • Oliehoorn French fries sauce

Here's how to make it

  1.  Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan to 180°C.
  2. Pat the squid rings dry with paper towels and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Place the flour, beaten eggs and breadcrumbs each in separate bowls.
  4. Pass each squid ring first through the flour, then through the beaten egg and finally through the breadcrumbs, making sure each ring is evenly coated.
  5. Deep-fry the squid rings in batches in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  6. Drain the fried squid rings on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  7. Serve the fried with Oliehoorn French fries sauce and lime wedges.
